When BeWILDerwood opens the gates to its curious treehouse adventure park for February Half Term (13th-21st February 2010) visitors will be treated to even more treetop, family fun and excitement than ever before.
Based in Wroxham, Norfolk, BeWILDerwood was awarded the Best Large Visitor Attraction in 2009 for the whole of the East of England. What makes the park so special is that it’s all about good old fashioned outdoor adventure and safe play and has loads to offer children and adults of all ages. It is a ‘plastic-free’ environment featuring magical tree houses, zip wires, wobbly bridges, mazes, swing ropes and Toddlewood for toddlers.
BeWILDerwood is based on the best-selling children’s books written by park owner and author Tom Blofeld. He has created a magical world which is home to Swampy, Mildred the Crocklebog and many other weird and wonderful inhabitants of the forest.
Brand new for this year is a play area called Tricky Tunnels. According to BeWILDerwood it is the park’s greatest challenge yet and comprises vertical ladders, walkways, tunnels, bridges, swinging ropes and much more…all reaching a tummy-wobbling height of six metres – and it’s pink!
Jo Artherton, BeWILDerwood’s Marketing Manager, said: “We can’t wait to unveil this new ride. It’s a really daring experience and we know the bravest people of all ages will relish the challenge. The Twiggles and Boggles haven’t stopped playing on it since it was finished!”
The name ‘Tricky Tunnels’ was the suggestion of nine-year-old Freya Womack, from Bradwell, in Norfolk, who won a competition to come up with a catchy name for the new area. Her prize is an annual pass for four people and a named credit in the park’s 2010 leaflet. She may also get a mention in one of the BeWILDerwood books, written by park creator and author Tom Blofeld.
BeWILDerwood is also planning a host of bigger and more thrilling events in 2010. These include Swampy’s Steady Spoon Dash, from 2nd to 11th April - a real Easter treat; and the Soopa-Doopa Spring Spree, from 1st to 3rd May, which focuses on searching out woodland creatures and learning about the natural WILD world.
There are also popular annual favourites such as BeWILDerdad’s Day, on 20th June, and Snagglefang’s Spooky Spectacular, from 25th to 31st October.
Booking day or annual passes and getting into BeWILDerwood has never been quicker and easier. Last year the park introduced a fast track online booking system, which has proven a huge success. It means visitors can book their tickets online, bring a reference number with them, and get into the park quickly without queuing - a real boon during the park’s busiest times.
BeWILDerwood has also introduced gift vouchers, which are ideal for birthday presents. And their Annual Passes are great value if you are local or a regular visitor – and you can use them to get into all the events free.
The park’s on-site shop has undergone a big expansion and is now twice the size. It’s packed with fantastic gifts including books, soft toys, sweets, and a new range of BeWILDerwood branded gifts.
With so much more to offer, and the focus firmly on environmental and educational issues, BeWILDerwood is a perfect for a family day out in 2010.
