We recently received a very sweet little card, hand drawn by James Sambrook from Dedham, Essex. James asked why do Boggles live on the ground.

Swampy wanted to answer the query so he dictated to Tom Blofeld who wrote back to James on Swampy's behalf. His response went something like this:

"We Boggles only live on the ground because we aren't very good at climbing things. This might be because our tummies get in the way!"

We ran a competition back in November, to name our new play area and win a Family Annual Pass to BeWILDerwood, for 4 people.

We had over 600 entries so it took some time for the Twiggle Team to sort through all of the weird and wonderfuly curious names.

After much deliberating we are thrilled to announce the name and winner, hand picked by Tom Blofeld himself......drum roll please........

Freya Womak, from Great Yarmouth, came up with the winning name "Tricky Tunnels". Huge congratulations to Freya!!! She wins an Annual Pass for 4, a named credit in our 2010 leaflet and Tom may use the name in a forthcoming BeWILDerwood book!

Keep an eye on our website for more updates on Freya's winning name...

On Wednesday 21st October, whilst the park was closed to all the humans, the Broadland Cluster of Schools had a school secretaries network meeting here in BeWILDerwood. They did have a serious and very important meeting in one of the yurts with a lovely buffet (of which I was allowed to have a nibble) but they did manage to find time to explore our wood and have a little go on some things.....

Hello everybody. Mildred has asked me to say a big thank you to everyone who came to see her this year. She loved meeting you all and hoped she didn't frighten anyone. She is now looking forward to spending some time in a nice warm, clean pond indoors somewhere (it is getting colder outside) and she has asked if she can have a long luxurious bath, with someone to scrub her back, so she can look beautiful and green and clean again for you all next year. She also wants to go to the dentist. Can you believe that?!! I do hope the dentist is BRAVE!

She has had such a lot of fun this year watching you all playing and joining in with the fun things that have happened in BeWILDerwood. She particularly loved receiving your photographs and wants to share this lovely one with you -

After the Twiggles found some lost items left by a visitor Gary, from Milton Keynes, they received a very delightful email thanking them for posting the items back to Gary. And, as a big thank you, Gary and his daughter, Amy, paid homage to the Boggles and Twiggles of BeWILDerwood by constructing their very own FarTree. Here's Amy looking very pleased with her work (with a little help from Dad and her cousins). And quite rightly too - it looks fabulous! The Twiggles and Boggles love it!

5 success stories in one week - now that cannot be bad! Mildred's ladies-in-waiting sometimes get calls from sad visitors who have lost something during their visit to the Park. Well this week we have reunited George with his lost fox, a very lucky birthday girl with her pink camera (mummy lost it!), a birthday boy with his brand new sweatshirt, a typical school boy with his coat and a lovely lady with her gold bracelet. If you have lost something don't forget to let us know by phone or email using the contact form on the website. We had a very helpful twiggle with us today making a list of all the things we have found - there's lots!!

And we have also heard that the exciting new build is sooooooooooooooo nearly ready! I had a sneak preview the other day and it looks like it is going to be fun, fun, fun.

Posted By:
No comments yet

There is a big hunt in the woods today, as the Thornyclod Spider has lost six of its boots! All the Twiggles and Boggles have set up a trail and are scouring the Scaaaaary Lake, the Wobbly Wires and the Muddle Maze to see where they have all dropped off! As the Thornyclod Spider has so many legs it needs lots of boots, so you can see why it could have been so careless. The Twiggles asked it to think long and hard about where it must have last seen its boots and this is what it said, 'I waarrs defnitely weeeaaarin my sporrrty boo' when Mildred an' me were goin' doowwn at' Slippery Slope.'

So if anyone is coming to the woods today, could you help Thornyclod find its boots and take part in the trail with the Twiggles and Boggles.

When I went down to the woods today...

When I went down to the woods today I saw something new near the Peaceful Paths. The Boggle Builders have been hard at work there, and they are still building away busily, but they wouldn't tell me what it was they were building. They said I would have to wait until they had finished, and that that might take a long while because Boggles aren't very good at climbing up trees! As this new thing they are building is very tall they told me how they all keep getting stuck up high amongst the tree branches and not being able to get down, and then they try to get down and instead they fall out if they are not too careful. Ouch!

Then I toddled on over to another new thing in front of the Cosy Cabin and sat down and watched some wonderful storytelling on the new stage. The storyteller was really really good and I heard all about the Boggles and the Twiggles and the Thornyclod Spider and everyone else that lives in BeWILDerwood AND I found out what made the terribly scary noise in the scaaaary lake! Do any of you know what it was? I even got to join in and make marshmallows - what fun!

It was such a good story that I have decided to come back again tomorrow, and again the day after that, and the day after that and the day after that, so as I can hear lots more about the brave adventures of Swampy and his friends (and make some more marshmallows!). Now I think I will go home and practice making some marshmallows of my own, but before I go I am going to collect some marshy pong and crushed mallow of the marsh to take with me - they really are the best ingredients don't you think? Does anyone know where I can get some fizzy whizz? Tum te tum te tum te tum...

Posted By: The Tree Twiggle
No comments yet

As I arrived at BeWILDerwood this morning I was greeted by a very well dressed Twiggle helper. He told me all about how he says hello to all the visitors as they arrive at the park and tells them all about the Twiggles and the Boggles that live there. He was very helpful when I saw him and told me all about the children that visited BeWILDerwood yesterday (I was off to find some slitherigrub thread to help make a fishing net for the Boggles). It sounded like everybody had a great time and lots and lots of fun.

Here is a picture that the Twiggle helper let me take to show you all. Doesn't that hat suit him?

I love all the wonderful colours we twiggles wear in BeWILDerwood. I will have to ask Sticklenose's mum to help me make this helper some new hats so he can have lots and lots and lots - one for each day of the week! I'll go and see her now. I think pink would be a good colour, or maybe green. What colours do you think I should use? I'll go and see what I can find. Maybe Mildred has a spare Tiara I could borrow....Toodle-oo!

Posted By: Twiggle in the Tree
No comments yet

As I was walking through BeWILDerwood today, I stumbled upon the Thornyclod Spider who was sheltering in the shade underneath a tree by the Mudlde Maze. It told me that the rain last night had made a puddle by the Wobbly Wires. When the Thornyclod was walking to see the Wood Witch, it had stepped in the puddle with one of her not-so-waterproof shoes.

When it had got to the Wood Witches house, one of the Twiggle's had helped by hanging the shoe in the Fartree to dry off, and fetching a new, more water proof one for the Thornyclod to wear.

While the Thornyclod was visiting the Wood Witch to ask for some ingredients to make some more Marshmallows, Rosie the robin whispered in it's ear that the Boggle Builders were still working hard building in Peaceful Paths. They're still doing a good job of keeping it a secret because no one know's what it is!

Posted By: BeWILDerman
No comments yet

As Guardian of Bobletts it is my job to keep a beady eye on all the Twiggles and Boggles money so they know it's safe. Today, whilst I was distracted by the boggle builders hard at work on the new ride, I think I dropped a Boblett as I am one short now.
The Boggles are busy building another new addition to our magical world. Swampy is being very secretive and has told all the other boggles and twiggles not to tell anyone about it! Mildred thinks it's a brand new ride and has bought a new handbag just so she can go and have a look at whats being built! The birds are saying it's going to be big and pink!...How exciting!
Posted By: Head of the Twiggle
5 comments

Some of you who have visited us recently may have noticed the Boggle Builders busily building away near the Bizarre Bazaar. Well, it's going to transform into a little greeting hut for everyone to head towards once they've paid. It will be even more beneficial for those of you who book online, as you can head straight to the hut without queuing at the ticket office - what joy!
Posted By: Elfin Filagree
No comments yet

We Twiggles are strong believers in helping our local community. So when we heard about our local police community support officer running the marathon to help buy a defibrillator for the local 1st Responders, we thought that because the 1st Responders have been so good to us we should help towards the cost of the defibrillator as well. Here is Lucy Collyer (our local support officer), Mrs Webster (1st Responders volunteer) and all the other local businesses who have contributed, looking rather happy with a very big cheque.

Home sweet home
This is perhaps a very unlikely nesting spot which makes it all the more fascinating. BeWILDerwood is full of a mixture of wildlife and colourful, enchanting characters so when a young couple of Blue Tits decided to make a BeWILDerwood cigarette box, in the car park, their home we Twiggles decided to welcome them and reserve the box just for them.
Posted By: Elfin Filagree
No comments yet
