Looking for a magical Halloween activity in the Lake District? This October, step into the woods for a family-friendly adventure with a BeWILDerwood twist.
This year, little explorers can take part in our brand-new Twig or Treat Trail – a magical twist on traditional trick-or-treating. Hear from BeWILDerwood characters, discover what’s hiding behind their doors and see if you can find out the secret word to win a prize!
What is the Twig or Treat Trail?
Our Twig or Treat Trail is a magical daytime adventure through the woods, giving little explorers the chance to visit six-character doors and discover what’s waiting behind each one.
Listen carefully to what each character has to say, as some have left a tasty treat along with mystery letters, while others have left nothing but a pile of twigs!
Collect the mystery letters as you make your way around the trail and reveal the secret word.
Once you’ve completed your trail sheet, head back to Minty Land to claim your prize!
The Twig or Treat Trail costs just £3 per child, and every completed trail sheet earns one prize.
It’s a fun-filled way for little ones to enjoy a bit of Halloween magic without having to wait until dark!

There’s plenty to see and do around Brockhole this autumn, making it easy to turn your Halloween adventure into a full day out.
Take a stroll through the grounds and enjoy an autumn walk around the woods and along the shores of Lake Windermere, with plenty of beautiful scenery to discover along the way. Little explorers can also pick up our free BeWILDerwood Top Trumps Trail and see which woodland characters they can spot as they explore.
When it’s time to warm up, head to the Whitehouse Cafe for a hot drink and a bite to eat.
