BeWILDerwood Cheshire has another award to add to their growing collection as they win ‘Marketing Project of the Year’ at the Marketing Cheshire Tourism Awards, beating off competition from the likes of Chester Zoo and Tatton Park.
The outdoor woodland attraction was applauded for their innovative and reactive approach to last summer’s ongoing wet weather. Despite one of the wettest summers on record, the park stayed positive and used their popular characters and outdoor setting - proving that you can have fun at BeWILDerwood no matter what the weather with their Make a Sploosh at BeWILDerwood campaign.
Head of Marketing and Media, Lydia Sharkey, said:
“We found that the children coming to play really didn’t mind if the sun was out or if it was raining, and that a giant puddle can be a great deal of fun with a little imagination! So, we tied this in with our beloved character Mildred (from the BeWILDerwood books) the friendly Crocklebog, and that’s where Make a Sploosh at BeWILDerwood began.”
“Despite the wet weather the whole team pulled together to ensure our visitors had the best time in the woods. With wet weather challenges and a Make a Sploosh competition. It was great to see visitors in full rain suits and wellies, jumping in puddles and just enjoying the great outdoors. We’re so thrilled to have won another award. We’re a small team, so this really means so much to us!”
In just 3 years the standout attraction has continued to be recognised, with other awards such as Best New Event and Large Visitor Attraction of the Year 22/23. So, if you haven’t already experienced BeWILDerwood, you really are missing out!
The attraction is open across weekends in March and then every day from the 28th March, with a whole host of Easter themed activities. Making it the perfect place for a family adventure this Easter.
